The Museum and Gallery of the Orlické Mountains

Located on the first two floors of the Kolowrat chateaux in the town of Rychnov nad Kněžnou, it offers temporary exhibitions, as well as two permanent exhibitions, Painters of the Orlické Mountains and the sculptures by Karel Hladík in the exhibition hall in the second courtyard.

Synagogue-Karel Poláček

Memorial The synagogue was rebuilt in 1782 after a fire in the 17th century, later it was devastated and its interiors demolished during the German occupation. Jewish Museum of the Podorlicko Area and Karel Poláček Memorial were opened after a general reconstruction in the 1995s.

Ornithology exhibition-Karel Plachetka Memorial

The exhibition containing 700 prepared exhibits presents a complex ornithological collection comprising specimens of 225 bird species. The collection is the result of life-long endeavours of Karel Plachetka (1877-1961), born in Bedřichovka v O.h.

The Vamberk Lace Museum

The museum offers a unique exhibition introducing the evolution of Czech lace from the 18th century onwards.

The Regional Museum Dobruška

An exhibition entitled The Jews in history of Dobruška, a mikveh-an original 18th century ritual bath and a video in Czech/English/German are all a part of the tour.

The Museum of Winter Sports, Tourism and Crafts, Deštné v Orlické Mountains

The museum exhibits a collection of historic equipment for winter sports and documents of the results reached by individual sportsmen. It also features expositions of glass-making, history of Deštné and exhibits introducing the local crafts of the Orlické Mountains region. Apart from these permanent exhibitions the museum holds temporary exhibitions, as well as the annual Glass-Making Days-Melting Glass with Wood.


The Toy Museum Rychnov nad Kněžnou

The museum aims to give insight into the life of children in the period between the years 1880 and 1960. You will find china-head dolls, as well as doll rooms, picture books and period photographs from the turn of the 19th century.

Marie and Vojtěch Sedláček Gallery and Memorial in Javornice

The gallery presents works by painter Vojtěch Sedláček and his wife, lace-maker Marie Sedláčková-Serbousková, and the studio and apartment of both artists. The exhibits include paintings, lace, lace designs, even the horse-drawn carriages the painter would use for his painting expeditions. An exhibition of paintings by a local naive artist Josef Korejz-Blatnický was opened in 2004. The house with the studio are located by the road leading from the village of Javornice to the nearby town of Žamberk.

The Museum of Jarmila Haldová and of the Village of Sedloňov

In a small village huddled in a mountain-creek valley lives Jarmila Haldová, a popular illustrator, chronicler and organiser of cultural activity. An exhibition focusing on her work, as well as on the history of Sedloňov was opened in 2006 in the former village school. Open at weekends or on demand.
